2008 SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON: Thursday Ammendment

Ok so going over my blog, I realized I missed a big deal from Thursday night's STAR WARS FAN FILM AWARDS. During the show, there was a trailer for the film FANBOYS presented. FANBOYS is about a group of Star Wars fans who set out to get onto the Lucasfilm ranch to get a sneak peek at STAR WARS - EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE. There had been some controversy with this film in that the studio wanted to re-cut it, leaving out a sub-plot that had one of the characters dying of cancer, and this being his final hurrah. A protest was planned to coincide with THE WEINSTEIN COMPANY's release of SUPERHERO: THE MOVIE (which didn't turn out to be anything at all) but with the outcry on the Internet, it seems the fans have won, and the film will come out the way it was meant to be. So, after the preview, there was a surprise appearance by Kevin Spacey, who treated us to his Christopher Walken auditioning for Han Solo's role (from a SNL skit) and then thanked the fans for their dedication asking us all to get everyone we could to see the movie. Spacey is btw, one of the producers. I have to say it was kind of odd having Kevin Spacey appear at something like the STAR WARS FAN FILM AWARDS, but cool nonetheless.
