Ingredients:

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius and line a cupcake pan with liners

Mix the eggs, water, vegetable oil, and chocolate cake mix in a mixing bowl

Blend until thoroughly blended

About two thirds of the way up, fill each cupcake liner with cake batter

When a toothpick is inserted into the center of a cupcake, it should come out clean after 18 to 20 minutes of baking in a preheated oven

Let them cool fully

Beat the unsalted butter until it becomes creamy in a different bowl

Add the milk, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, and salt gradually

Beat until a creamy, smooth frosting is achieved

Frost each cupcake generously with frosting using a piping bag

Ensure that every cupcake has a high swirl on top

Melt the vegetable shortening and semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second increments in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth

Let the excess chocolate drip off after dipping each frosted cupcake into the melted chocolate

Because the frosting is cold, the chocolate should set quickly

Before serving, let the chocolate set for a few minutes

Savor your homemade cupcakes with a hi-hat!
